Sports Themed Cupcakes
How you do top circus themed cupcakes for a little boy's first birthday party? Sports themed cupcakes for his second birthday party of course!
Mom gave us free reign coming up with a design so along with the soccer balls, footballs, football goal posts, basketballs, basketball nets, and whistles we also handmade a sports team of fondant animals with team jerseys and all. I don't think I'd put my money on a team with a cow, pig, bear, monkey, cow and beaver but they sure were cute.
My personal favourite was the sheep team coach complete with clip board!

Christmas in July!
Since it is shaping up to be the hottest week of the year here in Montreal I figured what better time than now to share some wintery cupcakes from last December!
Baby Lefteraki is only 1 year old but he has already had our cupcakes made in his honour 3 times! First was his baby shower then his first birthday and this order was for his baptism.
The theme of the baptism was a winter wonderland so the cupcakes were baked in silver liners and topped with handcrafted fondant snowmen, penguins, and snowflakes. To top off the cupcake tower we event made a matching giant cupcake.
Another winter themed order we made was for a little boy's first birthday. The cupcake were topped with handcrafted fondant ice skates, hockey sticks, snowmen, and snowflakes.
Thanks a million for your cupcakes,...they were a hit everyone loved them including Vincent I've attached some photos for you to see for yourself.

Montreal Wedding Cupcake Tasting
Speaking of weddings, the 2010 wedding season is fast approaching! We have been receiving so many wedding cupcake requests over the last few weeks that I decided to organize an afternoon of wedding cupcake tastings this Sunday March 7, 2010.For more information or to register online please click HERE. Not getting married this year but know someone who is? Let them know about our wedding cupcake tastings. There are only a few time slots left, so don't delay!
First Montreal Wedding Cupcakes of 2010!
The weekend before Valentine's Day we had the privilege of providing cupcakes for a wedding held in the Old Port of Montreal at Restaurant Du Vieux Port. It was the our first wedding of the year, so I couldn't wait to get working!
The colour scheme of the wedding was all white, so we baked the cupcakes in white liners and topped all the cupcakes in white buttercream. To distinguish between the lemon and vanilla cupcakes we used white pearl details.
My favourite part of this order was the custom bride and groom wedding cake topper that we handcrafted out of fondant and handpainted.

Montreal Wedding Cupcakes
I have been planning on writing this post since our last wedding of 2009 back in October! After our first wedding of 2010 at the beginning of February I figured it was time to stop procrastinating.
One of my most cherished moments are reading e-mails from happy brides and seeing the photos their photographers took of the wedding cupcakes we lovingly baked, decorated, and setup. Here are a few of our favourites:
First up is the swan wedding from last spring held at Le Sanctuaire. My favourite thing about this wedding was the flavours the bride and groom chose including peanut butter, green tea, and lemon. Yum! Photo by Valerie Sangin.
During the summer there was the beach themed wedding reception for a couple that got married in Cuba. Right away I felt a connection with their theme because Cuba holds a special place in my heart. Would you believe they had a family member drive these cupcakes all the way to Ottawa for the reception? Photo by Alain Doss.
The most colourful wedding of the summer was held at Suite 701 in the Old Port. The fuchsia and lime green buttercreams really popped. The couple decided to provide their own cutting cake for this wedding. Photo by Mark Cooper.
These stunning cupcakes were also for a wedding held in the Old Port, but this time at the Hotel Nelligan. I really enjoyed working on these cupcakes because the bride gave me complete creative control of the fondant decorations. It was also really fulfilling to be able to provide the bride who was gluten-free with gluten-free cupcakes and a gluten-free cutting cake so she could enjoy her cake on her wedding day. Photo by Julie Gagnon.
I had to include this photo even though it was taken by me, and not a photographer. The cupcakes themselves are very simple, but the hall at Auberge Le Saint-Gabriel where the wedding was held was just stunning! The cupcake were stand sat on an antique piano near a gorgeous stained glass lamp. Definitely my favourite setup of the summer!
The biggest wedding of the summer was held at the Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile. All 17 dozen cupcakes were placed in white tulip cups and the presentation was truly breathtaking. Photo by Mike Dugas.
The next two photos are taken by me. They are from our most memorable fall weddings, but they were memorable for very different reasons. The first photo is of wedding cupcakes I made as a gift for a close childhood friend's wedding which was held at Newtown. It was such an honour being able to contribute to her special day! The second photo is memorable because I narrowly avoided disaster. The wedding was held at L'Auberge des Gallant outside of Rigaud, which is a good 70km from our kitchen. When we arrived to setup the cupcakes I found out that the hotel could not find the cupcake stand we were supposed to use for the setup. Since we were so far from the city heading back to get one of our stands was not an option, so we had to MacGyver the setup. Thankfully we pulled it off!
Our last wedding cupcake stand from 2009 wasn't exactly from a wedding. In December we were invited to participate in The Bridal Boudoir Affair held by wedding planner extraordinaire Maddy K. Photo by Badger Photography.
A big thank you to all the brides and grooms who chose to have our cupcakes be part of their special day. It is truly an honour, and has been a pleasure working with each and every one of you. These photos are from only a fraction of last year's weddings. If your wedding cupcakes are not featured please email us a photo and I will gladly add it!

By the way...you guys are so awesome! Your cupcakes have probably been the most well-appreciated gift I've given. I'm jealous of my cupcake delivery recipients...maybe one day somebody will take a hint and deliver them to ME!
My daughter and her friends LOVED, LOVED the cupcakes you delivered for her birthday last Saturday. They all said they are the absolute best they've ever had. She was thrilled to get such a unique, beautiful, tasty surprise on her birthday. Thank you so much for making me feel like I'd done a wonderful thing for her birthday and for making her so happy. It's hard to come up with a special birthday treat for a student 350 miles from home. She's already looking forward to her next birthday and her friends are telling their parents what they want on their birthdays!

Thank You!
I'd like to thank everyone who participated in Coats for Cupcakes this Sunday! The word spread through Twitter, Facebook and apparently even the Concordia Listserv. In total we gave away 200 cupcakes and collected well over 100 warm winter coats for survivors of the earthquake in Haiti arriving in Montreal.
I was so busy greeting generous Montrealers that I didn't have time to take any photos. However, when I got home at the end of the day and checked my Twitter account I was surprised and happy to see that people had posted Twitpics of their cupcakes!
Coats for Cupcakes was so successful that I hope to do it again next year and to donate the coats collected to a shelter for the homeless in Montreal.

Cupcake Camp Montreal Recap!
At the end of November I had the honour and the privilege of helping to organize, sponsor, and participate in Cupcake Camp Montreal. As I mentioned in an earlier blog post the event was held to raise money for Kids Help Phone, and raise money it did. In fact during the 3 hour event an astounding $8,000 was raised!
Our donation to the event was 200 cupcakes. The event rules stipulated that all the cupcakes had to be the same flavour, so I decided to come up with a special flavour just for Cupcake Camp. I wanted the flavour to be fun, creative, and of course delicious! What did I come up with? The Violet Beauregarde: A naturally coloured and flavoured blueberry cupcake filled with fresh blueberry jam and topped with vanilla bean buttermilk buttercream. It was truly divine! That being said it was a mistake. I entered The Violet Beauregarde in the Best Tasting Cupcake category and sadly it did not win. With all the other work I had on my plate helping to organize the event coming up with a new flavour, especially one which was so ambitious, was a bad choice. I should have stuck with our famous Red Velvet Cupcakes. Oh well, live and learn!
I didn't think I would have time to decorate any cupcakes for the design competitions. In the end I didn't manage to make an entry for the Best Pro Decorated Cupcake but I stayed up a few extra hours the night before the event to create my entry for the Best Montreal Themed Cupcake. Jeopardizing a few hours of sleep paid off. I won Best Montreal Theme Cupcake with my "Youppi popping out of a poutine"! I was thrilled, not only for winning, but because I have lived in Montreal all my life and truly love the city, so I was glad the judges appreciated my Montreal themed design.
Speaking of judges, the day Cupcake Camp Montreal took place was also the birthday of one of the judges, CHOM 97.7 FM's Rob Kemp. The other organizers asked if I would make him a cake, so of course I jumped at the opportunity. Of course not just any cake would do, it was Cupcake Camp after all. What did I come up with? A giant cupcake decorated to look like the offical Cupcake Camp logo!
All in all the event was a huge success. It was a lot of work but well worth it. I met loads of cool cupcake bakers and eaters all while raising money for a great charity. How could you go wrong? I am already counting down to next year's Cupcake Camp!

Golf Birthday Cake
Here's another order from November. It was a first for us. We normally make cakes to accompany our cupcakes, but this order was for a golf themed cake without any cupcakes! Then again our 5" extra tall chocolate mud cake filled with chocolate ganached can definitely hold it's own.
Just a quick note to thank you for such a beautiful and absolutely delicious cake - everyone thought it was outstanding and "so cute". Thank you once again.

Baptism Cupcakes
Okay, where were we? I have been a huge blog slacker for the last few months. This order is from back in November. This little girl's mom requested that we use one of our old designs and switch the decorations up a bit to make them suitable for a baptism.
Just a little note to thanks you again for the cupcakes. They were delicious and above all, they were so cute that at the beginning nobody wanted to eat them :)
Before ending this post I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to the family I woke up early on a Sunday morning when I attempted to deliver these cupcakes to the wrong address!
